10lb Salmon A 10lb Salmon caught at the end of July in Abernethy water on the River Spey

The odd Salmon still getting caught but this is usually the month the main runs of Sea Trout start to run the River Spey.

A 3lb Sea Trout

Best night so far: 4 fish landed and 6 other pulls

Best flies: Teal Blue & Silver; Alexandra; Squirrel Blue & Silver; Stoat's Tail.

I would expect as July comes and the river settles back down to summer levels, Sea Trout catches will increase.
If you are fishing late in the night tubes that are working well are generally black and silver and blue and silver. One of my favourite flies to use very late at night is a Black and Red Waddington.
MAY
Finally rain came in May and so did the Salmon and here are just a few fish that were caught during the past weeks:
Alan with an 11lb Salmon  
Best fish: 13lbs
 
Successful fly: Cascade Allyshrimp
 
A 13lb Salmon Sea Trout came off Grantown whilst fishing for Browns and weighed approximately 4.5lbs which was a nice early surprise.
